Fast fire kiln building and firing course 17-19th October

£200.00

Join us at Lyde Green Pottery where over 3 days we will work together build and fire (with your work) a fast fire kiln…which will be capable of firing up to 1300 degrees celsius, producing amazing flame and natural ashing effects.

This type of small kiln is great for those wanting to learn about wood firing and may want to build one of their own. This course aims to highlight what can be done on a more modest budget with great effect!

This course will give you first hand experience of the whole ceramic firing process so it is a great opportunity to learn about the amazing posibilities of small scale wood kiln design.

We will also be discussing types of firing and the science behind it as well as sustainable ways of procuring wood and wood type etc.

For the firing please bring your own stoneware bisqued work (grogged clay preferable) and cone 10 glazes - Tenmoku, Celadon and Shino are available on site too.

Amenities:

Compost toilet on site.

Unfortunately we cannot offer accomodation on site but if you are travelling from outside Bristol, there is the possibility of a few people camping on site (six tents max).

Whilst on site we will be chipping in to cook communal dinners throughout the day on Friday and Saturday.
