Wood firing - 13/14 July weekend course

£150.00

Come and experience a wood firing at Lyde Green Pottery firing your own work!

The workshop consists of a firing of the LGP downdraught wood kiln also known as a ‘fast fire’ which in total takes around 12 hours from 9am - 9pm.

During the day you will experience the flow and rhythm of a collective stoneware reduction firing with on hand intruciton on how to prepare, load and fire the kiln as well as discussions around the science of wood combustion and kiln design from artist and LGP founder Phil Root.

The next day we will unload the kiln and discuss the results.

Each participant is asked to bring 2-5 pieces of bisqued fired stoneware each (clay for temps of 1280) various glazes (shino, nuka, celadon) will be provided or you can use your own if formulated for cone 10.

Saturday 13th July from 9:30am - 10pm (Wood firing at Lyde Green Pottery)

Sunday 14th July from 11pm - 2pm (Unloading kiln)
